Scarborough Family Golf Center in the beginning
Construction of Scarborough Family Golf Centre began in the summer of 1995. What was originally a farm field,
my father Ross and my wife Karen and I began transforming the field into a Golf Centre. It was our strong desire to
bring to the community a state of the art golf practice facility.
Situated at the southeast corner of Markham Road and Steeles Avenue, our doors opened to golf enthusiasts on April
6, 1996. The facility started with 25 artificial and 10 grass hitting stations, putting green and chipping area.
As the business continued to grow year after year, we continued to reinvest back into the facility. By the end of the
first decade, the facility was comprised of over 65 hitting stations, bent grass putting green, chipping area, covered
tees and an 18 Hole Miniature Golf Course.
In addition to improving the facility, we have implemented some terrific programs for golfers of all ages. Over the
last decade we have hosted many community fundraisers and events as well as hosted our own annual charitable event.
Our 10th season began in the Spring of 2005. Although it was the most successful one yet, it was a mix of emotions for
the staff at Scarborough Family Golf Centre. We bid a fond farewell to one of the founders, Ross Randazzo, and lost
the lease on the Markham Road location.
Our Future
In the Spring of 2006, we started a new chapter with a new location. Scarborough Family Golf Centre's new home is located at 1395 Tapscott Road. Situated on the east side of Tapscott Road, directly east and just minutes from our former location.
Now in our 15th Year!
Our new site is larger than our previous location, covering some 13 acres. Our intention was to recreate the same
successful facility on our new site. It consists of over 65 hitting stations, comprised of both natural grass as well
as artificial turf mats. We also have a larger combined chipping/putting green to hone your short game as well a fairway side bunker.
In addition to a larger site, the landscape is picture perfect at our new location. Mature trees and vast openness
provide a very peaceful and natural place to practice your golf game. While we are just literally steps away from our former facility, the country-like setting is an added bonus.
Now entering our 15th season we will continue to improve and update our facility to meet the needs of our customers.
New in 2009, was the addition of an 18 Hole Miniature Golf Course. Our Miniature Golf Course has been designed with
a “Medieval Theme”, with a large Central Castle as well as other smaller medieval structures throughout
the whole course.
We look forward to continuing our tradition of providing the community with a quality family golf practice facility.
Sincerely,
John & Karen Randazzo
